The dates for the 2008 Memorial Weekend are October 3rd, 4th and 5th. As details become available they will be posted here and at the NFFF website.
A Message from Florida
I had the honor and privilege of serving as this year’s Memorial Weekend Honor Guard Commander for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. As I know many of the honor guards that participated in the weekend utilize this site, I wanted to attempt to reach out to as many as I could and thank each of you one more time.
I cannot begin to express my pride and satisfaction with the weekend and all the events surrounding it. We always set out with the mission of maintaining our focus on the families, and the attendance of President Bush this year required us to be flexible yet diligent to our task. I challenged each of you to uphold the traditions and values that the Honor Guard represents and to just say we succeeded would be an understatement. The feedback we have received, on all levels, is clear evidence of the commitment and dedication that we all share.
To successfully pull off an event and venue of this type, with the adjustments we were faced with, is proof positive that we rely on the sum of the parts. I can only take credit for surrounding myself with the right people, each of you took care of the rest. You and your departments should be extremely proud of your mission and vision.
Again, I salute each of you on a job well done. Take care, be safe and I hope to see everyone again next year.
